Nematodes – also known as roundworms or eelworms – are the most numerous multicellular animals on the planet, numbering more than 28,000 known species. With soil samples often containing in excess of millions of individual nematodes per square metre, it is estimated they account for around 80% of all individual animals on earth.
Plant parasitic nematodes are among the most destructive and problematic pests for growers around the world, severely impacting crop development and yield. These nearly invisible killers affect a variety of crops globally and are responsible for an estimated $125 billion in annual plant losses.
