Gerhard Ahlers

VP, North Europe

Dr. Gerhard Ahlers joined Adama with the acquisition of FCS in the year 2002. Before becoming the VP, North Europe, Gerhard was the managing director of ADAMA Deutschland GmbH, formerly FCS in Germany and Austria with the responsibility of managing all Adama businesses in these countries. 
Before joining  FCS in 2001 Gerhard held various positions in Aventis Crop Science, AgrEvo and Hoechst, summing up to more than 25 years of experience in the Ag-Chem, Biotech and Fertilizer industry.  Starting in 1986 as a field advisor in Germany he was promoted to a branch manager in 1987. After having served a short time in the central marketing department of Hoechst, Gerhard joined the Spanish Hoechst subsidiary 1992 as head of marketing and development. In 1993 he was appointed as  country head of the Ag- business in Malaysia.
After five years abroad Gerhard returned to the Headquarter in Germany in 1997 and took over the responsibility for the entire AgrEvo sugar beet business. Later he was appointed as global business development manager output traits in Aventis. 
Gerhard holds a PH.D in Agriculture (crop production and plant breeding) and a  master's degree in Agriculture from the University of Bonn.
