“I am driven to bolster our position as the partner of choice in South Europe, for bringing simple solutions that deliver great value to farmers, to grow our leadership in the region, and to make sure that our people are engaged and proud to be part of the ADAMA team.”
As the VP of South Europe Bertrand holds overall P&L responsibilities for the company’s activities in the region, leading the team of 400 who are charged with ensuring that ADAMA’s strategic goals are met. The approach he takes is based on a combination of three components that he believes are essential to success – identifying the segments and crops for which ADAMA can bring a differentiated, added value to farmers; developing and nurturing mutually rewarding relationships with partners, advisers, and distributors; and making sure that his teams have the resources and support to achieve their aspirations.
Bertrand joined ADAMA in 1996 as the Commercial Manager for ADAMA France to build a successful footprint from scratch. Since then he held multiple leadership positions at the company, including CEO of ADAMA France and North European Union Area Manager, driving hundreds of millions of dollars in revenues for the company. Prior to joining ADAMA Bertrand served in multiple management roles in the crop protection sector, including at Schering Agrevo in France .
Throughout his career he has always been inspired by the famous quote from Winston Churchill: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”
Bertrand holds an MBA from Insead, a DEUG from METZ University of Economics, and a BA in Chemical Studies from Nancy University.
During his spare time, he likes to read about geography and history, travelling around the world to discover new places and cultures, as well as walking and cycling when at home.
