Deeper connections and wide-ranging cooperation are just two of the many positive outcomes of last week’s four-day visit to Israel of senior Chinese dignitaries hosted by Adama.
Led by Mr. Qu Futian, Mayor of Huai’an Municipal People’s Government, 11 senior government and business leaders from Huai’an City, came to Israel to expand their relationship with Adama, learn more about Israeli innovation, and build connections with leading Israeli businesses.
Located in the north of the Yangtze River Delta, Huai’an City has a population of 5.4 million and an annual gross product value of more than $35 billion, and is one of China’s leading industrial centers.
“Huai’an City is located in the center of the Jiangsu Province, the number one province in the Chinese agrochemical industry,” remarked Chen Lichtenstein, Adama’s CEO, during the delegation’s visit to Adama’s manufacturing facility in Neot Hovav. He recalled that when he served as President and CEO of ChemChina’s agrochemical division – China National Agrochemical Corporation (CNAC) – he selected Huai’an as the base for Adama’s future China operations due to its strategic location and business-friendly attitude. “We found that the local government in Huai’an is accessible, business- and industry-minded, something which has proven to be indispensable for us as we implement our plans to grow in China.”
Adama’s connection with Huai’an is well-established: Adama is in the process of building an advanced, state-of-the-art formulation plant and R&D Center in Huai’an, which will form the basis of the Company’s operational hub in China, and is expected to facilitate Adama’s transformation into one of the largest, most competitive and differentiated crop protection providers in the world.
“We are extremely pleased to be a part of China’s growing connection with Israel, and Adama’s pioneering relationship with ChemChina and our Huai’an City,” said Mr. Qu. “We view this important visit to Israel as a door to new opportunities for cooperation with Israeli companies, and to promote innovation in many fields.”
During their visit, the Huai’an delegation visited various organizations in Israeli academia and industry, highlighting Israel’s unique focus and strength in innovation, and also had the opportunity to experience some of Israel’s world-renowned sites. Included on their itinerary were Adama’s Neot Hovav manufacturing plant and the entire Neot Hovav industrial area, where they were hosted by the Chairman of the Neot Hovav Municipal Council, Mr. Andre Uzan; the Weitzman Institute and Hebrew University; field trials of agricultural innovations; the high-tech and cyber park in Beersheba; and the Carasso Science Museum at which Adama has established an interactive exhibit about crop protection. The group also met with four outstanding students from the Ben Gurion University’s “Marie Curie” chemistry scholarship program sponsored by Adama.
During the visit to Beersheva, the group met with the mayor of Beersheva, Mr. Ruvik Danilovich, and the two mayors signed a strategic collaboration agreement.
In addition, the delegation hosted a dinner event for leading Israeli executives, greeted by Mr. Shraga Brosh the President of Manufacturers' Association of Israel. After four intensive days together, the new business and personal relationships formed created a promising basis for future cooperation, with both the Chinese and Israeli participants exploring possibilities for accelerating collaboration between the two countries.
