Clodigan 240 EC is a systemic post-emergence wheat herbicide for the control of annual grasses like love grass (setaria spp), wild finger (Eleusine spp), wild oat (Avena spp), wilmann love grass (Eragrostis spp) and rye grass (Lolium spp).

Mode of Action

Clodigan 240 EC is readily absorbed through the leaf surface and stems, translocated to meristems. It inhibits ACC enzymes which is essential for lipids synthesis. Root uptake is minimal. Cloquintocet methyl is a safener that prevents phytotoxic effect in wheat. Both products degrade rapidly in soil so there is no effective residual weed control.

Application Advice

Application Rates

For grass weeds apply 0.4 - 0.6 L/Ha, 40 - 60 ml/ 20L.

Spray Volume

The spray volume should be between 100-300 Litres of water per Ha. Where the weed population is dense or the weeds are at advanced growth stages, the spray volume should be 200-300L/Ha.

Aerial Application:

1. Recommended water volume is 30L/Ha. The droplet density should be between 40-60 droplets/cm2 with a droplet size of between 350 - 400 Microns.

2. Spraying should be discontinued if wind speed exceeds 16km/h. Obtain assurance from the pilot that these requirements will be met. When spraying, use minimum nozzle pressure and boom height while maintaining uniform spray pattern.

Preparation of Spray Mixture

Fill the tank to half its capacity. In a separate container add a small amount of water to the required quantity of Clodigan 240 EC and mix well until a uniform mixture is obtained. With agitator running, pour this mixture through the filter into the tank, adding water up to the required amount. Do not stop the agitator. Do not allow spray mixture to stand. If the filled sprayer has stood idle for some time, it is necessary to agitate and ensure good mixing before starting to spray. Mix each spray batch freshly.

Application Timing and Technique

Application of Clodigan 24 0EC must be post emergence to wheat and grass weeds. Application timing is 3-6 weeks after sowing when the wheat has reached the 3-4 leaf stage. Optimal activity of Clodigan 240 EC is achieved when applied during weather conditions that are favourable to active weed growth (warm & humid).

Clodigan 240 EC can be applied by any suitable medium to high volume sprayer provided it is able to distribute the spray mixture evenly over the target area, it is fitted with an effective agitation mechanism and correctly calibrated. Use a flat fan nozzle.

Safety

Re-entry period: 6 hours.

Clodigan 240 EC is toxic toxic to fish, other aquatic organisms. It is harmful to birds, animals and relatively toxic to bees but due to the mode of application, a hazard to bees is not expected. Do not contaminate ponds and waterways by direct application, cleaning of equipment, disposal of wastes and empty container. Keep livestock and wildlife out of treated areas.
