General Info

Galigan 240 EC is a selective pre- and post-emergence herbicide for control of broadleaf and annual grass weeds in several crops such as onions, cabbages and tomatoes.
WHO CLASS III.

Amaranthus sps., Datura stramonium, Tegetes minuta, Avena fatua, Eleusine indica, Paspalum dilatatum are susceptible to Galigan 240 EC weeds.

Application Advice

Directions for Use

Rain or irrigation is essential for activation of the residual effect of Galigan 240 EC. Pre-emergence control is most effective when Galigan 240 EC is applied to weed-free established soil surfaces. After weeds or soil surfaces are sprayed, they should not be disked or cultivated in any manner. In post-emergence sprays, Galigan 240 EC is most effective against annual broadleaf weeds when they are less than 10 cm high and at the 1-2 leaf stage of susceptible annual grass weeds.

N/B: Do not disturb the soil surface after Galigan 240 EC has been applied, as any soil disturbance will reduce weed control efficacy. Do not apply Galigan 240 EC after transplanting of cabbages and tomatoes as this will cause severe crop injury.

Application Rates and Timing

Apply Galigan to prepared ground 4-7 days prior to transplanting.

Onions (seeded)

0.5-1.0L in 400L water followed by overhead irrigation (25-50ml in 20L water)

Apply post-emergence to onions, at feast at the 2-4 true leaf stage. The rates and stage of application vary according to variety, season and area.

Preparation of Spray Mixture

Fill the tank to half its capacity. In a separate container add a small amount of water to the required quantity of Galigan 240 EC and mix well until a uniform mixture is obtained. Agitate and filter mixture into the tank, while adding water to the required amount. Ensure good mixing before starting to spray. Mix each spray batch freshly. Ensure uniformity while spraying. Fan-type nozzles are preferred.

Safety

Re-entry period: It is possible to enter the treated area once the spray has dried up.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In the case of eye contact, wash with plenty of water.
  • Do not breath spray mist or fumes.
  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after use and before smoking, eating or drinking.
  • Avoid contamination of foodstuffs, feed, eating utensils and drinking water.

  • Prevent spray drift onto adjacent crops, grazing, rivers, dams and any area not under treatment.

  • Do not contaminate any water source when cleaning spray equipment nor when disposing of any waste product. After use, immediately rinse all spraying systems with clean water.

  • Empty product containers should be rinsed three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10 % of the container. Add the rinsing to the spray tank before destroying the container by perforation and flattening. Do not use the container for any other use.

WARNINGS:

  • Harmful if swallowed. Avoid eye and skin contact as this may cause irritation.
  • Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals.
  • Store in a cool place away from food and feedstuffs.
  • Flammable - do not expose to heat and flames.
  • Toxic to fish - do not contaminate dams, lakes, rivers or any other water body.
