D-Fense NXT belongs in your turf maintenance kit

Preparing for irrigation season with staff safety and guest comfort in mind.

Nobody enjoys opening a valve box and finding it full of spiders. As irrigation season gets underway, turf teams will be lifting lids, checking valves and working around irrigation equipment more frequently. Now is the time to include pest checks and targeted treatments in the maintenance routine.

D-Fense NXT is a ready to use aerosol that combines fast knockdown with residual control of listed pests. With no measuring or mixing required, it is a convenient addition to the utility cart for planned treatments and a useful product to have available around the maintenance facility.

Deal with the hidden hotspots before the work begins

Valve boxes, irrigation pits and sheltered spaces around satellite boxes can provide hiding places for spiders and ants. These are exactly the areas staff need to check before putting their hands somewhere they cannot see.

Use a torch to inspect concealed spaces and arrange treatment of identified pest harbourages ahead of maintenance. Where the location is covered by the product label, the straw applicator helps direct D-Fense NXT into cracks and crevices on suitable surfaces inside valve boxes and around satellite enclosures.

Target the pest hiding places, keeping spray off motherboards, circuit boards, wiring and other electrical components. The aerosol is flammable, so do not spray into live electrical equipment or near ignition sources. Follow label directions for switching off electrical appliances and allow the required re-entry period before accessing treated areas. Inspection, suitable gloves and safe access procedures remain part of the job.

Keep outdoor toilets and guest areas welcoming

Spiders in an outdoor toilet block can undo the good impression created by a beautifully presented course. Check door frames, eaves and sheltered corners as part of routine cleaning, then treat suitable surfaces and harbourages where spiders or other listed pests are active.

D-Fense NXT provides contact kill and residual control on treated surfaces, helping manage nuisance pests between inspections. Combine treatment with regular cleaning and web removal to keep toilets, changerooms and associated outdoor amenities comfortable for guests. Close treated areas for the required periods and ventilate after use.

Give the workshop and staff rest areas the same attention

Maintenance sheds, pump rooms and storerooms offer plenty of sheltered spaces for pests. Inspect wall and floor junctions, suitable areas beneath benches, and gaps around doors and windows. The surface spray and straw applicator provide options for treating accessible surfaces or directing product into cracks and crevices, following the label.

Staff rest areas matter too. Keep eating areas clean, remove food scraps and rubbish, and check surrounding cupboards and entry points for activity. Protect food, utensils and food preparation surfaces from spray, and follow the label’s cleaning and ventilation directions before the area returns to use.

One in the cart and a place in the routine

Make D-Fense NXT part of the team’s pest management kit, available to staff authorised to apply it. Carry it securely for the task and return it to cool, dry, well ventilated storage out of direct sunlight. Avoid leaving an aerosol in a hot cart.

Its three active ingredients provide contact knockdown, residual activity and insect growth regulation for susceptible listed pests. The practical benefit is straightforward: a ready to use option for managing pest hotspots around the facility, with no spray tank to prepare.

Ahead of the busy irrigation season, check the places your team needs to access and the amenities your guests use. A little attention now can help reduce unwelcome surprises throughout the facility.

Always read and follow the current label. Use only in labelled situations, keep spray out of water and drains, and observe all safety and re-entry directions. Contact your ADAMA representative for more information.
