Coverage Is Everything: Maximizing COSAYR® Efficacy in Brassica Crops

Understanding chlorantraniliprole behavior and the role of surfactants in brassica vegetable applications

ADAMA offers an array of insecticide products, including COSAYR® (chlorantraniliprole, G28) which brings strong activity on multiple pests, across a wide range of crops.

For the majority of COSAYR®'s uses the assistance of an adjuvant is not required.  However, for brassica vegetables the label states that control can be optimized with an adjuvant tank mix.  Unfortunately this can cause confusion; if adjuvants help in some crops why not others?

The nature of chlorantraniliprole is that of low water solubility and moderate solvent solubility1.  This results in a 'sticky' active, wherein the active binds to the cuticle and is not prone to further movement.

This sticky nature requires that COSAYR® be applied in a way that ensures good coverage; protecting where the droplets land.  And in most crops, a well applied application results in strong efficacy.

With brassica vegetables the foliage is full of 'nooks and crannies', and many of the pests that feed on these crops hide in these pockets.  This, plus the near zero tolerance for insect blemishes, is why surfactants can bring value to COSAYR® applications on brassica vegetables; helping the ai spread a little further, to where the bugs are hiding.
