ADAMA Secures First EU Registration for Innovative Ferrabait® Molluscicide

First EU registration paves the way for the European launch of ADAMA's novel Feralla®-based molluscicide
Ferrabait

ADAMA Ltd., a leading global crop protection company, announced that Ferrabait®, its innovative molluscicide based on the novel Feralla® active ingredient, has received its first product registration in the European Union. The registration in Latvia marks a significant milestone for Ferrabait® and paves the way for additional registrations and commercial launches across Europe beginning in 2027 with France, Sweden and Lithuania.

Slugs are becoming a growing challenge for European farmers, with milder winters contributing to increased pest pressure. Ferrabait® helps address this challenge by delivering rapid stop-feeding activity and fast control of slugs and snails within the first three days after application, helping reduce crop damage and protect yield and quality. The product is approved for use in a broad range of crops, including cereals, rapeseed, potatoes, and high-value vegetable crops.

Ferrabait® is powered by ADAMA's proprietary Desidro® Technology, which features a multi-stage drying process at controlled humidity levels to deliver a highly palatable pellet with superior integrity and durability. Comparative testing has shown that Ferrabait® offers greater longevity in wet conditions and enhanced resistance to mold, resulting in prolonged field performance compared with leading ferric phosphate-based competitors.

The innovation behind Ferrabait® starts with Feralla®, a novel active ingredient approved by the European Union as a low-risk active substance in 2025. The product combines this active ingredient with a proprietary formulation containing 12 components designed to enhance bait attractiveness to slugs and snails while supporting growers sustainability objectives.

"European growers are facing increasing pressure to protect crops effectively while meeting evolving regulatory and sustainability expectations," said Germain Boulay, Global Head of Herbicides and Molluscicides at ADAMA. "Ferrabait® provides growers with an additional tool for managing slug and snail pressure, combining strong performance in the field with the practical benefits needed for modern crop production."
