Pre-Harvest / Harvest Aid

KEY BENEFITS:
Faster, more complete crop and weed dry down: Delivers consistent dry down for a faster, more efficient harvest.
Flexible adjuvant options: Choose the adjuvant type and rate that best fits your crop, weed pressure and environmental conditions.
Improved harvest efficiency: Supports easier cutting, faster combining, reduced fuel use, and lower dockage.
Flexible fit across multiple cropping systems: Fits with all canola herbicide systems and is registered across a wide range of crops including canola, cereals, peas, lentils, soybeans, and flax.
Cleaner fields next spring: Helps manage late-season weeds and sets fields up for a cleaner start next season.

HARVEST AID & PRE-HARVEST WEED MANAGEMENT:
SAFACYN® may be used as a harvest aid to accelerate the rate of crop dry down and improve crop uniformity to facilitate direct combining. Early application may result in yield and/or seed quality loss.

SAFACYN® may be used as a pre-harvest weed management in wheat (including durum, spring and winter wheat), barley (including feed varieties), triticale to improve dry down of Volunteer Canola (all types including Roundup Ready®), Common Ragweed, Canada Fleabane, Redroot Pigweed and Wild Buckwheat and to facilitate direct combining. Early application may result in yield loss.

HOW IT WORKS:
SAFACYN® is quickly absorbed through both the roots and leaves of plants and moves throughout the weed once inside. It works by blocking an important enzyme called protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO), which is essential for normal plant function. When PPO is inhibited, the weed cell membranes are damaged, causing the plant to die. Under active growing conditions, susceptible weeds can show symptoms within hours of application, with complete plant death typically occurring within 3–5 days depending on environmental conditions. Under cooler or less ideal conditions full kill may take longer.

For Pre-Seed Pre-Emergent refer to Tech Sheet and Label.

General Info

ADJUVANT RATE:
1. When Mixing SAFACYN® with Glyphosate: use a Methylated seed oil (MSO) or Crop Oil Concentrate (COC) adjuvant
at 0.5 – 1% v/v OR a non-ionic surfactant (NIS) at 0.25% v/v.
2. When using SAFACYN® without Glyphosate: use a Methylated seed oil (MSO) or Crop Oil Concentrate (COC) adjuvant at 0.5 – 1% v/v.

REGISTERED AND SUPPORTED TANK MIXES:
• Glyphosate

GRAZING RESTRICTION:
• Canola, Wheat, Barley & Triticale: Straw can be used as feed or grazed 3 days after pre-harvest application.
• Dry Beans, Soybeans: Do not graze or feed treated hay or straw to livestock.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Fill clean tank 1/2 to 3/4 full of clean water and turn agitation on.
2. Add the required amount of SAFACYN® herbicide and continue to agitate.
3. If required, add the correct amount of tank-mix partner while agitating.
4. Add the required amount of adjuvant while agitating.
5. Continue agitating and fill the remainder of the spray tank with water.
NOTE: If tank-mixing, please reference the label of the partner for specific mixing order or follow WAMLEGS or WALES for proper mixing protocol.

PRE-HARVEST INTERVAL:
Barley, Canola, Flax, Lentils, Mustard, Peas, Soybeans, Triticale, Wheat: 3 days
Chickpeas, Dry Common Beans, Faba Beans: 2 days
Sunflowers: 7 days
For tank mixtures that include glyphosate please refer to and follow glyphosate pre-harvest interval on label.

STORAGE:
Do not freeze.

Always read and follow label directions.
For a complete list of all crops, rates and insects controlled in each please refer to the label.

Key Crops and Application

Canola, Mustard

Timing: Apply when 80% of seeds have changed colour

Seed Production or Restrictions on Glyphosate Use: 92 ml/ac of SAFACYN® (160ac/case) + adjuvant

No Restrictions on Glyphosate Use: 92 ml/ac of SAFACYN® (160 ac/case) + 360 g a.e./ac of glyphosate + adjuvant

Chickpeas

Timing: For Desi type, apply at the time swathing would normally begin, when the majority of plants are yellow and most pods are mature and seeds have turned from green to yellow or brown. The upper part of the plant may still be green. For Kabuli type, apply when the majority of plants and pods are ripe and dry with seeds turned from green to white or tan, and detached from the pods. Dry down is less complete in Kabuli type due to its thick pod wall.

Dry Common Beans, Soybeans

Timing: Apply when stems are green to brown in colour and pods are mature (yellow – brown) and 80 – 90% of the original leaves have dropped.

Faba Beans

Timing: Apply when 80% of lower pods have turned black, middle pods have turned yellow/tan, and top green pods have firm seed.

Seed Production or Restrictions on Glyphosate Use: 92 ml/ac of SAFACYN® (160ac/case) + adjuvant
