Application Information and Resources
Application timing of Sierra
-
Before sowing winter and summer annual crops
Before planting winter and summer broadacre crops using conventional ground or optical spot spray technologies (OSST), it is recommended to apply Sierra herbicide at the maximum label rate to emerged older broadleaf weeds (up to 10 leaves) or plants growing under less than optimal environmental conditions. If the target plants are younger and smaller (up to 6 leaves) and growing under good conditions, a lower rate of Sierra can be applied. The time between applying Sierra and sowing varies by crop, with some crop types showing sensitivity to soil residues. Please review the detailed crop plant back and rotation recommendations on the product label.
-
Desiccation of annual winter grain legume crops to aid harvest
For winter grain legume crops, please apply Sierra herbicide at crop maturity at least seven days before harvest according to the growth stage timings specified on the Sierra label.
-
Established lucerne crop at least 12 months old
For established lucerne crops at least 12 months old, applying Sierra in a tank mix with Spraytop herbicide following grazing or a hay cut will increase coverage and control of emerged broadleaf weeds.
-
Established almond, citrus and pome orchards
When applying Sierra to small emerged broadleaf weeds in established almond, citrus, and pome orchards, it is recommended to use a directed, shielded sprayer or wiper equipment. Avoid contact with green bark, stems, canes, laterals, suckers, fresh wounds, foliage, or fruit. Sierra can be applied alone or in a tank mix with Wipe-Out herbicide according to the product label for knockdown control of a broader weed species.
Water Volume and Application
Sierra herbicide is applied post-emergence, with application rates as follows:
Application:
Ground application: 80-250L water/ha
Aerial application (Helicopter only): Apply in sufficient water to achieve thorough coverage of target foliage and weeds
OSST: 100L water/ha
Adjuvant: Blended methylated/ethylated seed oil at 1% e.g. Hasten*, Plantocrop* or Kwickin*
Spray quality: COARSE droplet spectrum
Rainfastness for Sierra herbicide
Rainfastness: 1hr
Re-entry period: Once spray has dried
