ADAMA Receives Third Consecutive FIFRA Section 18 Emergency Exemption for Goltix™ 700 SC in Sugar Beets
Sugar beet growers in Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, and Nebraska will again have access to Goltix 700 SC for the control of glyphosate-tolerant Palmer amaranth during the 2026 growing season. The US Environmental Protection Agency has granted a FIFRA Section 18 Emergency Exemption for the third year in a row given the critical need for effective Palmer amaranth control in sugar beet production.
Goltix 700 SC, powered by the active ingredient metamitron and manufactured by ADAMA, has consistently delivered strong pre-emergence control of glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth—one of the most challenging weeds facing sugar beet growers today. In western Nebraska and eastern Colorado alone, uncontrolled Palmer amaranth has been shown to cause sugar beet root yield losses of up to 70%.* For extended residual control, we recommend layering a Group 15 herbicide, such as metolachlor and tank mixing with an ethofumesate-containing product at application.
Goltix 700 SC will be available in 2026 through major distribution partners in Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, and Nebraska, as well as through Western Sugar Cooperative and Amalgamated Sugar.
As part of the emergency exemption, applications may be made only as follows:
- Idaho and Oregon: March 20, 2026 to June 15, 2026
- Colorado: March 30, 2026 to June 15, 2026
- Nebraska: April 1, 2026 to June 15, 2026
- Wyoming: April 1, 2026 to June 15, 2026
Following the use period, unused product must be returned to a retailer or distributor with an EPA establishment number.
As the registrant, ADAMA continues to support the emergency exemption program and looks forward to advancing this use toward full registration under Section 3 of FIFRA, reflecting the long-term value Goltix 700 SC brings to sugar beet weed management programs.
