Keeping spring weeds at bay
Two key herbicides are of particular value in the fight against spring weeds:
- ANTHEM® (400 g/l pendimethalin)
- TOWER® (250 g/l chlorotoluron + 300 g/l pendimethalin + 40 g/l diflufenican)
ANTHEM® delivers good control of a broad spectrum of weeds including excellent efficacy against grass weeds. Its suspension concentrate (SC) formulation also enables it to outperform standard capsule suspension (CS) products when working against poppy.
In addition to its approval for use in mainstream cereal crops and maize, ANTHEM® can also be used to protect a wide range of fruit and vegetable crops:

TOWER® is ADAMA’s unique co-formulation of three active ingredients (250 g/l chlorotoluron, 40 g/l diflufenican and 300 g/l pendimethalin) all of which have complementary modes of action for optimal grass weed control and resistance management. In addition to providing excellent control of annual meadow grass and broadleaved weeds, TOWER also provides good activity against grass weeds in spring wheat, spring barley, spring rye and spring triticale.
TOWER® is a useful residual option for spring sown cereals thanks to its ability to deliver better than 95% control of a wide range of problem weed species.
TOWER® can also be used at as an early post-emergence treatment, giving growers more choice and the potential to control ALS resistant weeds such as poppy, chickweed and mayweed.

TOWER® has also been shown to provide useful activity against several species of spring germination weeds which are not currently listed on label.
ANTHEM® is ADAMA’s SC formulation of pendimethalin (400 g/l). It delivers higher efficacy on grass weeds compared to CS preparations of the same active ingredient, is user-friendly thanks to its easy to pour and rinse formula and provides long-lasting and reliable residual herbicide activity against tough grass and broad-leaved weeds in cereals.
