SORATEL: unlocking the full potential of prothioconazole

Why SORATEL stands out
SORATEL (250 g/L prothioconazole) stands head and shoulders above other, more run-of-the-mill prothioconazole fungicides thanks to its unique ‘AsorbitalTM’ formulation which uses an innovative solvent system and built-in adjuvant to improve uptake into the leaf.
Enhanced Uptake
Our innovative solvent system and built-in adjuvant improve penetration into the leaf for faster, more effective protection.
Superior Systemic Movement
Once inside the leaf, SORATEL moves efficiently to the site of disease, ensuring more complete protection compared to standard prothioconazole products.
Proven Disease Control
Field trials show that SORATEL delivers stronger, more consistent protection than other prothioconazole based fungicides.
With SORATEL you’re not just applying prothioconazole... you’re maximising its potential.
Diseases controlled & crops protected
SORATEL provides protection against the following diseases:
Application timing
- Wheat: before grain milky ripe stage (GS 70)
- Rye: before grain milky ripe stage (GS 70)
- Barley: use before the beginning of flowering (GS61)
- Oats: use before the beginning of flowering (GS61)
- Oilseed rape: up to mid flowering
Enhanced uptake and in-plant for superior septoria control
Independent laboratory trials carried out by BIOtransfer (France, 2021) have shown that products formulated using ADAMA’s AsorbitalTM technology are taken into the plant more quickly than standard formulations. This in turn improves their speed and efficacy septoria.
In the trial, a standardised amount of the products tested (each delivering equivalent amounts of prothioconazole) was applied to the basal part of wheat leaves, with the apical part of the leaves left untreated. This allowed penetration into the basal part and potential migration into the apical part.
At various timepoints after application the basal part was washed to halt uptake and to remove any remaining surface residues. At the same time, the apical part was removed to stop any further migration of product.
Both leaf parts were subsequently inoculated with septoria and incubated under saturated, humid conditions. Septoria control was then evaluated at 21 and 28 days post inoculation (dpi), with the results reflecting the quantity of active ingredient present in each part of the leaf.
The results can be interpreted as follows:
- less disease in the basal part indicated faster penetration into the leaf
- less disease in the apical part indicated better migration from the basal part to the apical part of the leaf.
Trials have shown that the uptake of ADAMA’s formulation is quicker and more effective against septoria compared to the market leading prothioconazole product. (Source: Independent laboratory trials conducted by BIOtransfer, France)
The ADAMA formulation also offers better protection against septoria in non-treated leaf areas thanks to its superior movement within plants. (Source: Independent laboratory trials conducted by BIOtransfer, France)
Better fusarium control
Trials carried out in Europe also show that, gramme for gramme per hectare, SORATEL consistently and reliably provides a notable improvement in fusarium control under a range of conditions: in extensive trials, both have proven to give up to 18% (Maritime conditions) and 13% (UK conditions) more control of fusarium compared to the market leading prothioconazole product.
Optimised curative effect
SORATEL’s faster uptake into, and migration within the leaf, provides higher curative control of brown rust infections compared to other formulations of prothioconazole. This is demonstrated in the laboratory study below where application was made both 4 and 7 days after inoculation with brown rust to provide a curative scenario. Another example of how you can get the most out of prothioconazole by treating your crops with SORATEL.
Longer lasting efficacy against septoria
Trials have shown that SORATEL not only provides better control of septoria at the outset, but that this advantage remains for three weeks post-application when compared to other formulations of prothioconazole.
Improved rainfastness
SORATEL also outclasses competitor products in wet conditions: even when rain arrives shortly after SORATEL has been applied, it still shows better control of septoria thanks to its improved rainfastness.
Protecting OSR
SORATEL also provides a notable improvement compared to other prothioconazole formulations when treating sclerotinia in oilseed rape growing in a maritime climate.
SORATEL is also a good option for use at stem extension to control light leaf spot, especially in those crops which do not require a growth regulator to be applied (e.g. those crops which are backward due to seasonal challenges and/or because they have been impacted by pigeon damage).
